In what position should the wheelchair be positioned when transporting handicapped students,and is this amandatory safety measure?
I know the wheelchair faces forward.What I need to know is if the wheelchair can be reclining,or should it be in an upright position for safety.I was taught when I drove a handicapped van that the chair should always be completely sitting upright.

Twice now I have personally seen our kids bus driver almost run our daughters over. On one occasion he didnt use his stop sign or lights when at our stop (which is on a busy street) and then almost ran my one daughter over. Then today he put his sign in and turned off the lights and took off and almost hit our other daughter. First time I was in the house looking out and the second time I was 4 cars behind the bus. I have called the Head of Transportation 4 times now concerning his behavior and some of the remarks he makes to the kids. All I keep being told is he is a good driver and he doesnt know why he would be doing these things. Who should I go to next??? Superintendant?
What makes me mad is they had a great bus driver for several years. The bus got too crowded so they changed our stop to another driver.
You need to take it to the school district - superintendent, director, or human resources manager - and put it in writing. Copy it to the Head of Transportation and in your letter make reference to the calls you have made. The camcorder idea is also a very good one. And it sounds like you need to do this quickly.

Ok if im driving in a two way street, one lane on each side there is a school bus approaching on the opposite lane, when the bus stops and the stop signs pop out do I have to stop even if im on the opposite lane, im not on the same lane, if a cop would of stopped me would I have gotten a ticket
yes of course you stop, kids could be going across the street and you would get a ticket if you DIDN'T stop!

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A House bill aimed at strengthening rules for school bus safety doesn't go far enough, and in some ways weakens current state law, Senate leaders said Thursday.
The House passed a bill Wednesday that would increase fines and suspend the driver's licenses of motorists who pass a stopped school bus. The House bill also has a provision that a driver who strikes a child while passing a bus can be charged with aggravated assault.
