Want to go home with a friend on her school bus. Will a note from a parent allow me to go home with her without getting in trouble.
In my area a parents note is required 24 hours in advance or the driver can refuse. We aren't quite that formal when it comes to enforcing it though because we know all the kids and their families. Half the time I accept the change without a note. I'm the nice "Mr. School Bus Driver". The little fudgers will probably cost me my job someday.

My son had detention today, he took the 4 pm bus home. At first he called to say that I had to pick him up because the bus driver did not want to drive him home. When I called the school, the bus driver was made to take him, however, she dropped him off about a 1/2 mile away from the house. We live on a very busy main road with absolutely no shoulder. She had to pass by the house anyway. I saw her myself doing about 60 mph. Then I saw my son walking down the road, jumping out of the way when a car would wizz by. I don't think this is okay and want to research it before I go crazy on the bus company. Thanks.
I'd contact the school first since it seems they control policy on this kind of thing (see first link.) But a better approach might be to contact an organization concerned with pupil safety on the bus (see the second link.) Maybe you can get them involved to help you out.
That said, you should talk to the bus driver first. Maybe she had a good reason for dropping your child where she did. It may not be out and out negligence. She can only do so much. School bus driver is truly the world's most unappreciated job. Most are only trying to do the right thing.
ie: Is it OK for high school student to ride the bus with students in kindergarten?
I would -think- that the buses would go where the schools are. So, if a high school student and a kindergarden student are both going to the same physical school, then it is -possible- that they are allowed on the same bus since the destination would be the same.
However, the best advice I can give would be to contact the school, the bus company, the PTA or seek legal advice.
Twice now I have personally seen our kids bus driver almost run our daughters over. On one occasion he didnt use his stop sign or lights when at our stop (which is on a busy street) and then almost ran my one daughter over. Then today he put his sign in and turned off the lights and took off and almost hit our other daughter. First time I was in the house looking out and the second time I was 4 cars behind the bus. I have called the Head of Transportation 4 times now concerning his behavior and some of the remarks he makes to the kids. All I keep being told is he is a good driver and he doesnt know why he would be doing these things. Who should I go to next??? Superintendant?
What makes me mad is they had a great bus driver for several years. The bus got too crowded so they changed our stop to another driver.
You need to take it to the school district - superintendent, director, or human resources manager - and put it in writing. Copy it to the Head of Transportation and in your letter make reference to the calls you have made. The camcorder idea is also a very good one. And it sounds like you need to do this quickly.

Student Transportation acquires New York bus companies - News ...
The transaction and closing were contingent upon meeting certain conditions and receiving various consents and renewals, which have been obtained. Management expects the deal to be immediately accretive to shareholders of its common stock. The acquisition will add over 320 vehicles, annualized revenues of just over $16 million and six new locations for STI. "With this acquisition, we have completed the second of three previously announced letters of intent we signed last month," said Denis J. Gallagher, STI chairman and CEO. "Grand Tours, Ridge Road Express and Scholastic Transportation Management are major new additions to our family. We welcome Tom Weeks and his entire staff to our growing family of companies. Tom will be joining our senior management team, and we look forward to his continued leadership. His experience and commitment to the school bus industry, particularly in New York state, is highly regarded by many and fits very well with our ongoing operations in New York state." The company utilized availability under its current senior credit facility to fund the acquisition. The transaction share purchase agreement was funded with a combination of cash and stock.
