I'm a freshman in high school and I'm starting to think about scholarships. I've heard that if you get really good grades and do extracurricular activities, the previous schools you went to will give you scholarship money (like your elementary school, high school). Is this true?
When should I start applying for scholarship programs? Do I have to pay for anything? I heard that you should start applying in 11th grade.
You can start applying now, but you're off to a good start on clubs and grades. Most of the time a college is going to look at your last two years of high school. If you're paying someone to do a scholarship search then it's a rip off. Legit companies do scholarship searches for free. You shouldn't have to pay anything to apply for a scholarship either. Most of the time if you're eligible for the scholarship they want you to write a paper or send a creative video, etc. Good luck!

Along with several other directions of careers, I've been considering becoming a middle school or high school teacher. I love English, and I hate math, but I hear that the most in-demand subjects are math and science, then English and history being near the bottom.
Is this true? Is it even worth it to become a teacher in a more low-demand subject?
Yup, Math and Science; but there is still a need for English teachers
Special Ed is also in high demand
Change their style even if it looks really stupid
Like those "scene" girls and "emo" girls
They're usually teenagers, and they grow out of it eventually
But this never really happens in elementary school
Why do these fads start in middle school/high school?
Cause people are stupid. I hate emo and scene girls. If you dress with an emo or scene style then that's fine, but I hate it when they start acting emo and saying "My life is sooo bad" or "I'm sooo depressed." They're not really depressed. it's like it's cool amongst teenaged girls to be "depressed" nowadays. Seriously, write some emo poetry about it then burn it, cause no one wants to hear it.
I want to purchase and donate a drum set to my local high school, but I don't know which set is best for middle school / high school students. They currently use a 12 year old Ludwig that is all beat up and has many hardware issues. I knew there was a big problem when they took my sons $350 snare and incorporated it into the set. I have about $1200 to spend. What is the best set for the money, has great hardware that is easy to make adjustments, and can take a beating from many high school drummers???
Any ideas?
Pearls are really good drum sets. I would advise getting one of those. Good luck! Just remember that with any instrument, the kids need to know how to respect it! Let the music director know that it needs to be handled with care, or as much care as a drum set allows :)
I am considering homeschooling my high school aged son.
What type of diploma will he earn (in Tennessee) if he is homeschooled - or will it just be a GED?
I will be an independent home schooler, not affiliated with a church or other organization.
I'm aware of the requirements, but have been unable to find out what type of diploma he will earn, or if it is simply a GED.
High School Diploma
A high school diploma is a document that bears record of the completion of a course of study. If you're wondering whether your homeschooled student can receive a diploma, the answer is yes!
As the parent, you've prescribed your child's course of study and you can present a diploma that indicates he has successfully completed it. Some correspondence schools also provide diplomas for completion of their course of study.
If for some reason the college your child wants to attend looks skeptically at homeschool diplomas, the quickest way to demonstrate academic competence is to have your child take several courses at the local community college. By dual enrolling, your child can take classes that help complete her high school course work while earning college credit at the same time (subject to state and individual college policies). Those college credits will allow your child to transfer to the school of her choice. (If you select this route, be sure that your child's destination college will accept the specific college courses she plans to take.)
