I'm going into my 2nd year of homeschooling my son. I am looking for a 1st grade curriculum. My son seems to enjoy work with not alot of flash that distracts him. After shopping at my local Sam's I stumbled across a work book for 1st graders. It's a complete year's curriculum with lessons laid out for the year. (Learn at Home Grade 1) My question is: Has anyone just used this alone as a 1st graders curriculum or as just a supplement with something else? If so, what is your review of it?
I use school specialty publishing every year. For your question I used a book just like the one you are speaking of but I used it as a extra credit book.Let me give you a hint. I take all my work books run them off make a workbook for my child.Take the originals put them in a 3 ring binder and use them for master copies and my copy. And also I will have them for my other child when she starts. So the book you are speaking of I use as a extra credit. School Specialty is where I get all my books. It a good company.

Hi, I'm doing a report on sex in advertising for school and wanted to know which magazines printed the sudo-racy Tom Ford for Men ad of a woman with a cologne bottle between her breasts and if they were mainstream or specialty.
Thanks.

I know it's difficult to get published traditionally. I have an offer from a subsidy publisher. Keep in mind this is for a full color saddle stitched children's book (not black and white). They want $4,000 from me. I've also considered self-publishing. I'm working on getting quotes from printers. I've heard not only do bookstores not want self-published books because anyone with $$ can sp, but that they think it will be difficult to get them. Maybe it's worth printing a few for specialty shops or something and speaking at schools, etc. I may just continue to get it published traditionally (have been rejectec twice). Not sure. I have mixed feelings.
It is a waste of your time, they are all crooks.
I live in Michigan. When I was going up I wanted to be either a Nurse or Cop. I decided to be a Nurse. In 2004 I was convicted of Attempted Uttering and Publishing. In 2005 I was convicted of Unarmed Robbery. I am 45 years old and I had a perfect record prior to 2004 and I have had nothing since 2005. The judge even told me that usually they can look at someones record and guess where they are going, but with me, he had no idea, because I have absolutely nothing on my record, not even a speeding ticket. I do believe that is what saved me from going to prison, but I did spend 6 months in jail. While I was in jail my nurses license lapsed. At first I wasn't going to try and get it back because of my felonies, but last Year decided to write to the nursing board and ask for my license back. I was honest about my felonies and they did an extensive background check, and they STILL gave me back my license. Although I haven't worked as a nurse since I got my license back, I still did get it back, because they look at every ones situation. I really don't want to work as a nurse at this point, I just wanted my license because I had earned it. What I really want to do is work with Law Enforcement. Not as a cop, but as a Computer Forensics Investigator. I am currently enrolled in school and studying Computer Information Systems and planning on getting a Bachelors in CIS with a specialty in Computer Forensics. Ok I think I have given enough information.. Please all I ask is that no mean comments. I already know I messed up and it will most likely affect me for the rest of my life.. I am just looking for any advice from any Law Enforcement people or people who know the laws that pertain to this sort of thing. Thanks for all your help.
As for a law enforcement officer, there are two issues against you. First, you are not going to pass the background investigation, due to the 2 felonies. Secondly, must departments have an age cutoff of 32 years old, with the exception of some Sheriff's Departments. As long as you are already law enforcement certified and are already in law enforcement before the age of 32, you can still work in the field. If you are looking in the forensics field, I would contact the school you wish to attend and speak to a school counselor and they should be able to tell you if you qualify to enter the field with your record. Wish I could be of more help.
I need a short interview from someone who works in the medical field. MD, DO, nurse, physician's assistant, or any other medical practioner with any specialty.
This is for a Scientific Writing couse so the first six questions are the most important. Anything else you can tell me would be great. I need 10-15 questions answered for the assignment, so choose the questions you prefer to answer. If you only have time for the first six, that’s fine.
1) What kind of material did you have to read as a college student to get to where you are today? Anything besides textbooks?
2) What do you read now to keep you up to date with new medical practice? Medical journals? Online articles?
3) What kinds of reading do consider important for an undergraduate student interested in the medical field?
4) How long did it take to write your Masters Thesis or did you not need to write one?
5) If you wrote a Masters Thesis, what did you write about?
6) What did you publish, if anything, in undergraduate school?
7) What do you do to continue your education?
8) Did you have to go back to school to renew your license or for any reason?
9) How long did you spend in undergraduate school?
10) How long did it take to be fully certified?
11) What are rotations like?
12) How do you deal with sleep deprivation?
13) How does your job affect your home life?
14) Do you have time for hobbies at all?
15) Is it true that doctors need to know how to play golf?
16) Is there anything else it’s essential for a doctor to know that doesn’t seem obvious?
17) Are there any books you recommend for research purposes that seemed insightful about a medical issue?
18) Are there any books you’ve read, even for fun, that you can appreciate more because of your medical experience?
19) Are there any books you’ve read that give information about medical practitioners that struck you as being just plain wrong?
20) What is your name (or even an alias) that I can write down as the person I interviewed?
Thank you for your time.
I am a physician assistant in surgical critical care and have been working for 1 year now, graduated in September 2007.
1. NY Times health/science section, there are always interesting articles on current health issues in addition to college texts.
2. I read the AAPA journal (JAAPA- the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants) and Medscape which sends me emails with articles tailored to my specialty (critical care and surgery).
3. Read science topics that interest you and the texts required for your courses. The internet is a great resource for learning as long as you use accurate sources (medlineplus.gov is a great site for basic medical info).
4. I don't have a Master's degree (hope to go back to school one of these days to earn one).
5. see above
6. no publications
7. attend CME courses, read CME articles in journals, always ask questions to those with more experience (my attending physicians).
8. no
9. 2 years college to obtain prerequisites and 2 yrs PA school

12. Most people would say coffee but I am not a coffee drinker, you get used to it.
13. thankfully my hours are not bad and I don't take call or work weekends.
14. yes
15. Ha- I am not a doctor but I don't think so!
16. Knowledge is important however basic common sense and a good bedside manner and easy going personality will help you go far.
Hope this is helpful, good luck!
