School Uniform

my 10yr old tells me that if he has the wrong colour top for p.e he cant take part in the lesson..surely its more important to do exercise than what colour top they wear? what i want to know before i bollock the school (again) for such pettiness is the law on uniform...i thought that primary schools could only"strongly request" that you have uniform but cannot insist on it??
i have no issue with a uniform policy and he does have the right top but they have pe on mon & tues and on this occasion i forgot to put the top in the dryer..my issue is that the colour of top is deemed more important than the lesson itself-i just cant bear pettiness
To John. My grammer and punctuation, although non of your concern is actually fine in reality; my degree in English will testify to that. However, for speed and convenience I, like 99% of non-anal people on here, choose to type in a non-gramatically correct style. If this offends you, tough. As for my child, I care deeply about his education which is why I dislike pettiness when it interferes with it and this particular school just lately specialises in petty rules.The arrogant person here is you. How rude to be so judgemental.

No primary school child should be punished in any way for having the wrong uniform or forgetting it. If the problem is consistent there should be a letter to the parents but it sounds in your case as if this was a one off and should be overlooked. To the person who mentioned individuality and children going to school in different clothing so as to be original, that's all well and good to promote individuality but I think at 10 years old it's a sure fire way to get the poor child bullied.

Perhaps a quiet word with the school rather than going in all guns blazing is a good approach this time.

Who agrees that school uniform is a good thing?
In my opinion i think we shouldnt have school uniform. I understand the reason for having it but this reason sucks as it happens anyway! The reason? Apparently its to keep us all equal but then my school goes and says " we want yoo all to be individuals"!!!

And if the reason was: to make bulling be at a low level once again this is a load of crap! even with school uniform people are bullied cuz of what they look like.

So who agrees that we should be individual and where wat the hell we want?!

I have to wear a school uniform...Navy or khaki pants, and then white polos. I want to impress someone, how do I look good in my uniform, by the way I am a girl.

Wear different colored camisoles underneath your polo if you can.

Really cool and funky socks too if you're allowed.

Do really cool stuff with your hair. Side ponytail one day, straight the next, then curly, pigtails, etc. Wear hair ribbons sometimes also.

Pretty and colorful shoes with cool shoelaces.

Accessorize like crazy. I love to wear 2 or 3 bracelets at once and long necklaces are always cool.

If you wear contacts, wear eyeglasses sometimes. I love doing that!

Layer your tops if possible. Wear a cool sweater vest over your polo or a button vest.

Handbags that are pretty and cool are always helpful!

I would want a uniform b/c there wouldn't be competition (who has the cutest/ most expensive outfit) and in the morning, you wouldn't have to choose an outfit! but i've never had uniforms, except when i was really little, so idk

I just love cute, preppy school uniforms, but my school doesn't require uniforms, you can wear whatever you want there. Can I wear a uniform there without looking like a dork, I don't want to dress up in jeans in tees like everyone less. If yes, then how can I wear a uniform to school, like key pieces?

haha, watch gossip girl. ..but don't look like a skank.
get a deep v-neck cardigan, get a white blouse, either wear tights or knee high socks.. but scrunch them down. wear black flats. tie? optional. and get a plaid kilt/skirt .. but please, PLEASE, don't wear it so you can't bend over. I'm not telling you to wear it to the floor either, haha. it's just that you don't want to let boys know that you're a promiscuous little school girl, you know what i'm sayin'?
