I believe that a lot of it comes from everyday interaction to others and the upbring of a lot of kids these days. A lot of parents seem to be so worried about making thier kid the most popular kid in school and having them interact in so many sports activities that the kids and parent dont have the time to work on love and compassion. Those kids who seem to become the popular kids seem to be more judgmental and seem to poke more fun at the kids who are compassionate and actully care about others around them. Did you ever notice that the popular kids do things, even to each other, that makes others feel low and little, like they are nothing. But the nerds, stoners, grease monkeys etc... all except everyone for who they are, and arn't as quick to judge another. But its when the popular kids and jocks and others like that who have a lot of influence on other people, who start for one reason or another, to poke fun or torcher another kid with thier comments, rumors, and actions...it can drive a kid whos already mentally challenged or depressed to do things that just don't make sence, even to them. They become suicidal, and feel as if there is no hope for anything in thier lives anymore and are so angry with the ones whos made them feel this way that they turn to violence and hate....usually doing everything they can to make sure that everyone around them knows it no matter the cost. Kids are cruel....some crueller than others. I believe that all children should be taught compassion right fron the begining...I realize that academics is very important in making something of yourself in this world..but so should friendships and well...compassion. They should set aside at least 15 minutes of everyday to teach kids friendship, individuallity, and feelings and just because one person isnt the same and or acts a little strange at times is no reason for them to make that person feel even worse about themselves.
Im not saying that all kids are like this...but we all know the ones who were.
what are some examples of school violence? i have the columbine shooting,and the columbia shooting but i cant think of aynthing else, any one know anything?

look in your own school... what would the problems be if someone came into your school carrying weapons? How would you feel if someone threatened you with physical violence every day you went to school. Come on, you can do this assignment!!!!!!!! Think about it.

There’s been a lot of talk this year about how America’s schools are failing its children. That talk has focused primarily on two separate issues: 1) the quality of education and 2) bullying in schools. In the case of South Philadelphia High School in the Philadelphia School District, however, the school and its district failed on both fronts.
The following is a timeline of events that transpired over the last year at South Philadelphia High School and in the Philadelphia School District. Most of the links direct to posts by Angry Asian Man, who was our main source — and probably many others’ — on these events:
On December 3, 2009, 26 Asian students were attacked and beaten by a large group of their peers, mostly African American, throughout the school day at South Philadelphia High. 13 of the students who were attacked wound up in the hospital. There was already a history of violence against Asian students — many of them immigrants — at the school, whose student body is, according to current stats, 64.6 percent African American, 22.4 percent Asian American, 6.3 percent White, 5.8 percent Latino, and 0.8 percent Other, yet district officials were quick to dismiss that the December 3 attacks had been racially motivated.
