Seminary School

Seminary School?

how long does it usually lst, do you have to graduate seminary to be a missionary ? what education do you have to have to get into a seminary school ?

That depends on your religion.

In the Catholic Church the usual seminary education takes seven years (two for Philosophy, four for Theology and one for the Diaconate), except in certain religious orders whose formation period is even longer (12 years with the Jesuits and even longer with some others). The entry qualifications are usually the same that any university would require.

On a personal note, I would however advise against the pursuit of such a career. Seminary life is hard and unfair, bullying is rampant and you have no individual rights as one would have as a normal student. You are in fact a slave and treated accordingly, and can be chucked out a day before ordination, after seven years of time wasted, without a reason given or a word of explanation. So be careful and remember that you have only one life.

Do you think a woman belongs in seminary school or should that be reserved for men only?

I hear about women going to seminary school and I wonder why. I thought it was the man's job to teach. But then again, most seminary schools teach some false doctrine.

Today we should affirm those whom God calls, whether male or female, and encourage them in faithfully learning God’s Word. We need to affirm all potential laborers, both men and women, for the abundant harvest fields.

Those that are dogmatic in excluding women from the ministries of God usually are not walking in the Spirit, as they see women after the flesh (viewing her sex), not after the Spirit (seeing her heart and calling). The Lord admonishes us in His Word that we are not to look at one another with regard to our sex, race, class or culture, but rather we are to see one another through spiritual eyes. (2 Corinthians 5:16-20)

It is obvious that God fully intends for women to exercise all of the gifts and anointings that God imparts to them.God has one unchanging purpose in the earth and that is to disciple men and women who can inherit His Kingdom and be qualified to rule and reign with Him. By anointing His children with His spirit and then giving them opportunities to serve, God is able to train such people.

Acts 2:17-21 says: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

What's a good seminary school for university students?

I'm currently a high school student and want to attend a Christian youth based college, or seminary. I've looked through all kinds of schools but most of them are basically extra degrees and bachelors, post-college. So I was wondering if anyone knows a specific school for university students who want to major in Christian theology. (Preferably a nondenominational college)

Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. It offers 4 year BA degrees in Bible, Theology, Missions, Youth Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, and many other majors. It is tuition-free. The only cost to you is room and board.

What is the best seminary school, in Georgia, to go to?

I understand that they all may be good, but I am working full time now, and I was trying to find a seminary school that would work well around there. This is a completely new path for me, and any information is helpful. Thanks!

  • U Of C To Buy Unitarian Seminary Near Campus « CBS Chicago ...

CHICAGO (CBS) – The University of Chicago plans to buy the Meadville Lombard Unitarian theological school, as the seminary moves to a new location.

The U of C plans to buy the seminary’s main academic and administrative building at 5701 S. Woodlawn Ave., according to a university news release.

Meadville Lombard, which is connected with the adjacent Second Unitarian Church, has decided the building no longer serves the needs of the seminary.

The educational model for the seminary has shifted from a small residential operation to larger classes that use innovative distance-learning methods, combined with periodic intensive sessions. The sale will allow Meadville Lombard to reallocate its resources to its core mission, the release said.

The U of C now plans to use the building for its own classes.

The building consists of 14,100 square feet, and houses classrooms, a library, a lounge and administrative offices.

Meadville Lombard describes its mission as being to “educate students in the Unitarian Universalist tradition to embody liberal religious ministry” in Unitarian congregations or “wherever else they are called to serve.”
