I wanna get into a good High School!!?

I wanna get into Northside College Preparatory High School. But I was in a private school for 7th grade... so I didnt get iSat... and my old school didnt pay any attention to points. And to get into Northside your point have to be high. I thought they payed attention to 8th grade thats why I transfered this year. And if I dont have those things than I probably have to go to Nicholas Senn High School! I know a lot of people that went to that school... and its HORRIBLE!! Is there a possible way I can get into Northside...or is there no chance!
yeah. im taking it on october. but im still not going to go to the high school i want cause of the points!
and yeah I know great things can happen at not that much of a great school. But 94% of the people that go to Senn did not graduate. And everyone I know that went there ended up breaking their virgenity and started takin drugs. And they thought that would never happen. And I think im strong enough to be smarter than that but thats exactly what my cusin said! So I want to go to a school that has students that are serious about their education and that is a good influence on me.

I know how you feel. Is there any way you can arrange to take the iSat?

My daughter is about to go to high school soon, and she picked some choices. Help me decide best one!?

These are all Chicago Public High Schools, just so you know. I don't know a lot about high schools, and neither does she, so just help me decide the best ones. A little info about each school would be great, thanks!

Make that I don't know anything about high schools... So if some high schools are bad or wierd, don't blame me... Also, any recomondations would be great... (My daughter has always been a straight A student, and participated in many sports like Volleyball (which is her favorite))

Good luck.

How can I transfer to Lane Tech in Chicago?

I am currently going to Nicholas Senn High School and it's not really the best place to be. The environment isn't so friendly and the students seem to be a bad influence. I am in the new MYP [middle years program] or the Pre- IB. The IB is like the toppest class you can be in for school. When I took the enrollment test for Lane and Northside i got about 700/1000 but didn't get accepted. When can I take a test or something so I can see if I'm able to attend Lane Tech as a sophomore? I don't know if this helps but my brother just graduated from there and the Vice Principle attends the same church I do so yeah. Thanks alot. I really don't want to stay at Senn because they're so many bad kids there and I don't think I can focus in school with others not wanting the full education like I do.

According to the Lane Tech website, you MIGHT be able to apply for a transfer in February 2011 or later. Even if you apply, it'll be harder to get in as a sophomore than as a freshman, just because it depends on how many current Lane Tech students transfer out. You should consider applying to other selective high schools in the city just in case...like Payton and Whitney Young. Walter Payton's website also says they're not accepting transfers right now, but you can keep checking throughout the year or call the number on the website (773-534-0034, ext. 25014) to see if they will accept a transfer.

I don't think attending the same church as the assistant principal will help, but if you know the assistant principal well enough, you can try talking to them about your situation. Part of their life's work is guiding high school students, so they can give you good advice. Sometimes you're more likely to get into somewhere if you have a sibling that is currently attending that school, but since your brother has already graduated, it probably won't help your case.

In the meantime, try to make the most of your experience at Senn. Join clubs and sports. There may be a lot of "bad kids" there, but there are a lot of smart ones in their IB program. Get to know them and you might like it there! You may or may not end up transferring from Senn, but even if you don't, at least you're in that high school's best program, and are making friends there.

30 year old dating a 17 year old?

So my friend recently told me her boyfriend has been cheating on her with a 17 year old in high school. I guess she will be 18 in a few months. Her and I think this is the most repulsive thing ever. She's totally ready to leave him alone. He is denying it to the fullest but my friend has senn text messages and even explicit pics between them.

Please gimme some feedback....thx!

Like, a COUGAR? A 30 yo woman seeing a 17 yo boy? Or is her boyfriend seeing a 30 yo man?
Anyway, if she can't compete w/ an old woman, she's not worthy.
Furthermore, your "friend" seems to share a lot of info with you. Call the police and anoymously report them. Tell him mom in an anonymous letter and send pics (print them out and send them and do so to the cops) yeah, she'll be an old jail bird and that will end that.
your "friend" won't have to worry about that until the next cougar comes along.
