St Francis School

I am applying to both Notre Dame High School in Belmont and St. Francis High school in Mountain view. Can you help me choose?

both have very special namesakes ND i would say like the fighting IRISH and ST.FRANCIS as of ASSISSI,i say read up on the history,ask grads of the high schools,where are your friends going and what does your family think?

tomorrow is st francis day. catholic schools have off tomorrow. So if i miss school, would it be an exscused absence?

I don't think all Catholic schools have off St. Francis of Assisi's feast day. If Catholic schools had all the saint feast days off for students, there would be no school days. Are you sure you heard that Catholic schools have it off for St. Francis? Maybe it was one particular Catholic school?

But as far as a public school absence for a Catholic holiday, it would not be excused. A public school would not consider St. Francis day as a legitimate excuse. Sorry.

St. Francis HIgh School in La Canada
or Loyola High School of Los Angeles are my two choices. I got a scholarship to Saint Francis, but I've been accepted to both. Could someone help me decide where to go? (preferably alum)
and possibly why?

Obviously I'm not an alum, and my son attends a different private school, but I know a lot of guys that attend St. Francis and Loyola. They all seem happy with their choices, and many had to make the same choice you do.

Loyola is slightly more academic and probably considered the more prestigious of the two. But unless you're the type of student who would also fit in at the top of Flintridge Prep or Poly Pasadena, you don't really have to worry that St. Francis won't be academic enough for you, it will be fine. The guys at St. Francis tend to be a little more ummm, wild. I think there might be a slightly higher percentage of boys seriously into sports at St. Francis. You probably know what I mean. They both have a lot of social events with girls, in case you're wondering. I think they have more school sponsored social events than the local co-ed schools do. Loyola is quite a bit larger than St. Francis, if that matters to you.

Which school can you commute to easier and quicker? You're going to have lots of homework and sports practice and/or arts, etc rehearsal.
Which campus do you feel more at home at? What is your gut feeling?
How much does the scholarship fit into the equation?

One great thing about St. Francis is the location. There are so many places to go hang out just a few blocks away, and Prep is across the street, La Canada around the corner, so more kids to hang out with at Los Gringos Locos or Roundtable, etc and FSHA close by. You can walk around the neighborhood, which isn't recommended for Loyola.

Good luck with your decision! You will likely be very happy at either, they are both great schools!

I currently attend a "nice and smart high school" but i hate it! It's the worst thing that's ever happened to me. I didn't even get to choose where i wanted to go. Im a freshman and i wanna go to st francis in wheaton, il. Can someone give me as many reasons as possible why st francis is THE place to be? then i could show my parents [= (if you attend st francis, it wud be easier fr me)
