How can a male teacher defend himself against attacks from a school superintendent?

What actions can a male teacher take to defend himself against false accusations from a school superintendent? This woman, the superintendent, is nuts... she is hell-bent on declaring him guilty even though there is absolutely no proof of wrongdoing (even after a 3 month investigation). Even so, she continues to harass my friends' husband by calling him into these meetings where she interrogates him to the point of making him physically ill. She has even admitted she has no evidence... just heresay and hunches. What does it take to stop this woman? Do school superintendents have bosses?

Yes, they have bosses, the Local Board of Education and also at the state level.
I would get a bit of legal advice (maybe free, especially on-line) from a licensed lawyer regarding how to file a harassment suit. Perhaps what is needed is only a cease and desist order fom the School Board. That carries heavy legal issues if it is then violated. Great evidence is needed if issue continues after one of these actions.

Is it legal for a school superintendent to live outside a school district?

I know of a school superintendent that was told he had to move to the school district and he said ok. He refuses to move to district and ask and got a huge raise because he has to commjute to work Is the a law that requires a superintendet to actually live in a school district, or do our community have to keep paying for his gas since it was his 'lie' that got him hired?

You can't really create a law for the superintendent to live in his school district, but there can be a "rule" that he does so. Living outside the district might be against the employment rule that the school district has, but he is not going to be put in prison.

Yes, you have to keep paying for his gas, as the decision is made, ultimately, by the school board, and not by you.

Can a mayor of a small town or city close school for an emergency evacuation?Or only the school superintendent?

We live in a small town in Texas and need to leave before Hurricane Ike hits us,and the Mayor says that only the school superintendent can close the schools,so if we leave, our children will have an unexcused absent. We are in a county that has been posted as a warning.Who is the superintendent's boss in the Mayor's city?

uh.....why does it freaking matter? Your kids are in danger; get them the hell out and figure out the stupid absence policy after the water receeds.

Afterwards; try the school's atty and the school board.

Good luck.

Difference between Superintendent and school Principal?

In terms of job responsibilities, what is the difference between a superintendent and a school Principal ? Who reports to who? Who is the boss?

The principal (and school board) are in charge of each school. The super is in charge of all the principals in his or her school district.

How do you become a school superintendent?

I wanted to become a high school math teacher, but maybe eventually move up like being a principal or superintendant. I need an Ed.D for this right? Do I get an Ed.D in school administration for this?

Depending on the size of the school board you might not need an Ed.D but in most cases you will.
The best bet would be to get a lot of leadership experience first ( try getting a Master's and taking a role like that of vice principal and principal early on in your career) .

  • School Opening Decisions Await Superintendents - Hartford Courant

To delay or not to delay? Or should schools be closed again?

Those are the choices facing school superintendents across the state today as they decide whether schools will open on time Thursday, have a delayed opening, or if they should remain closed to allow road crews to complete the storm cleanup.

State education officials predicted there will probably be a series of delayed school openings Thursday.

The decision to open, close or delay school is left to each individual superintendent, and is typically made after deliberations that can keep them up most of the night.

In West Hartford, for example. Assistant Superintendent Tom Moore said he will consult with his grounds crew, police and public works employees periodically this afternoon and tonight before making a decision around 4 a.m.

"We've got to see all side roads and the hilly roads and make sure they're all clear," Moore said today.

Middletown and Newington officials also said they would have to wait to make a decision on whether to close schools again.
