Vacation Bible School

I'm going on a mission trip to a very poor country in central america and we are going to host a vacation bible school for the kids there. I chose to lead the games station. I need any good suggestions for some good games to play on a low budget outdoors.

I went on a mission trip to Mexico a few years ago. We made balloon animals with the older kids. The kids also loved blowing bubbles, playing soccer, and coloring, playing Sardines, the opposite of Hide-N-Seek (depends on the area though). We also sang songs and made up dances to songs like this one:

I am teaching "songs and games" at Vacation Bible School. I have 6 groups of kids, each for 20 minutes long. The youngest are between 2 and 3 while the oldest are 8 and 9. I need games that can be manipulated to work with all of the kids and will keep them occupied for 20 minutes. We are indoors, so preferably no baseball or excessive running. The theme is Pirates. Also, I have found that the kids respond well to obstacle courses so if you have any obstacle course ideas that would be great.

My kids want to go to a vacation bible school in our neighborhood. We don't go to the church that is sponsoring it, we go to another church in the area. Is it OK to let them go?

Absolutely. But why would you send them to such a place?

I need to plan some arts/crafts and games to do with our vacation bible school toddlers. They are ages 20 months- 4 years. I really want to do something fun and creative that the parents can take home to put up or frame.. Any ideas? Thanks!

-play outside
-color with the older toddlers
- watch a movie
- if it is ok have a small scavenger hunt in the room
-sing songs
- put on music so they can dance
- put some toys on the floor that 1 and under can plat with
you can do anything that is fun for them and you

I am the leader of these 1st graders in vacation bible school. Plz give me tips!
Ok here is my problems.
1) I have a little kid that is very shy. He always wants to sit next to me while we are doing the activities. He will not get up and sing with the other kids while we are singing at the begining and end.
2) My kids seem really bored while we are doing stuff.
3) How to get them to particapate?
That is all i can think of right now. Today was our first day, so i don't know if it is just the first day or they don't want to have fun. Plz help if you can!!!

Its only the first day. Give the kids a chance to get to know each other and you. In no time they will have fun. As a leader you need to be their friend, motivated to do each and every activity, and love what you are doing without forgetting what the purpose of VBS is, for children to learn about God. I've done VBS for several years now. I've been both a group leader and in charge of all the 4 and 5 year olds. Don't worry, the kids will love you and love VBS.
