I was just wondering if you have to go to school to be a wedding planner.
Or what would the steps be to be come one
Pretty much you just go do it - I don't think there is a school for this.
It couples well with experience in "Event Planning" that you might be able to get at larger venues that host parties/etc. But mostly, it's experience.
Best of luck

In Cali and not an online school I also want to go to UCLA or USC and major in business but that's cuz I want to be a wedding planner and then own my own business. Can you even do two schools at the same time?
Choose one school that gives you the flexibility of double majoring/minoring/double minoring. I don't think you can do two schools and wouldn't recommend it if given that option anyway. If you want to be a wedding planner, having a good business background would be great, but wedding planning also involves interaction with people, high administrative experience, and much organization. So, other majors to think about is Psychology, Communications, Sociology. People think that because they want to go into business, they should major in business. But any social science/humanities-related field allows people the flexibility of majoring in anything they want. The important part really is just having relevant and practical job experience. So, essentially, you can major in anything, but actually working/INTERNING in an environment that is similar to that of a wedding planner's office is highly recommended.
For Business, USC has a better program than UCLA. UCLA has Business Economics, more theory related.

I am interested in becoming a wedding planner and I would like to know what are some credible on-line schools that offer training in this field
Hi, this is really my own view of how I would handle it.
I will first do some work shadowing or attachment to see if that's what I really wish to do. I heard that becoming an events planner would mean time will never be yours. Is that what I'd enjoy?
Once I am sure that it is a career I would love, I will study a course more versatile yet still provides the skills I require! One that would allow a change in career should this one not work for you.
Hospitality and business management course maybe? Becoming a wedding planner also involves business management skills, and time management would along with it. Having a business requires planning, and through work attachments I am sure the skills in becoming a wedding planner is sure to come by easily.
I will research on this job, to ask for experiences in such a career, the skills one would require.
I really feel, that some things in life needn't be studied. Since you're talking about training, I would suggest working with a wedding planner. I mean, that's what I would do. Also, I'd open my own store, for I needn't show myself I did training, or took a course or degree.
I know I'm not exactly helpful, and I didn't answer your question! I just hope it gives you a broader perspective. :)
All the best!
Peanut
P.S: Do refer to the sources I found, and I hope it helps you succeed!
i mean besides a general knowledge of design and Business, is there, like, some kind of wedding planner school or institute specifically for that occupation?
No, but it would help to learn about the industry as an apprentice. Many people in such businesses only start out their own operations after experience, and for good reason. I'd get a job with a wedding planner first before striking out on your own, else your first weddings become chaotic disasters of a learning experience that your customers will likely blame you for (especially given weddings are, of course, high emotional stress events...)
I been thinking about the career wedding planing, what type of schooling do i need and how do i go about entering the business?
Vocational Schools offer courses of study for wedding planners (wedding consultants, bridal consultants) for those who like working with people, who enjoy planning large gatherings, and who are good at negotiating and networking.
Too often, brides and grooms are busy with their jobs and don't have time to spend planning their weddings. The wedding planner, or wedding consultant, facilitates, mediates, manages, and fulfills dreams of their clients. Wedding planning is a stressful job, requiring patience and the ability to remain calm in adverse situations. On occasion, wedding planners may feel as though they are cast in roles as therapists, sounding boards, and "punching bags."
The wedding planner must be personable, a good listener, and a good delegate for their clients. They are the spokesperson for the bride and groom in all facets of planning, including ordering flowers, hiring musicians, hiring photographers, finding a caterers, finding locations, choosing colors, etc. Wedding planners look for the best services, best prices, and connections that will ensure successful events. Wedding planners must be very organized and must be adept at handling financial arrangements they make for their clients, as well as their own finances.
Knowledge of customs and traditions of various ethnic groups and various religious practices is essential for wedding planners. Professional wedding planners should expect to regularly read current materials throughout their careers to keep abreast of the latest wedding styles, colors, and trends.

Online Wedding Planner School | Wedding Come True
The wedding is present in our lives since the beginning of the Ancient times . Since the oldest of times , the man followed the natural way of life and its laws . One of this laws is starting a family . Although the customs in the past were a lot different , some of them survived the passing of time and can be found even in the most modern weddings today . Initially , the wedding was all about survival and not so much based on love . In the Ancient times , the greater the tribe the powerful it was , which meant protection from predators and rival tribes . In the Middle Ages , the woman was not considered anymore an exchange object . She could not be sold anymore and the weddings needed the blessing of a priest , the secret weddings being forbidden . The most similar to modern weddings were the weddings from Queen Elisabet I’s time (1 533-1 633) when the first bridesmaids , wedding vows and the wedding rings were used . Fortunately , today’s weddings are almost , if not all , about love . They are more intimate , more elegant , and more personalized . Today’s future families don’t want a wedding that is similar to the neighbor’s , they want a unique wedding , a wedding that will make them feel special . This is why , some people decided to try and help the couples in achieving this purpose . This people are called wedding planners .
